La Cuesta De Las Cañas

La Cuesta De Las Cañas

La Cuesta de Las Cañas is a road that leads from the municipalities of San Lucas and Santa Lucía Milpas Altas towards Antigua Guatemala. It is known for its curves and steep descent, but also for being haunted! In this episode, Cristina tells Carmen about this haunted road.

1
00:00:04.990 --> 00:00:08.769
Hola, hola, this is Cristina and Carmen, and this is

2
00:00:08.890 --> 00:00:13.429
Espooky Tales, the podcast for all things spooky, haunted places, myths, legends,

3
00:00:14.509 --> 00:00:21.179
sometimes true crime, sometimes horror books, all things spooky. And Latine. Yes,

4
00:00:21.640 --> 00:00:25.079
that's true. And yeah, we are here with another episode,

5
00:00:25.940 --> 00:00:29.899
Haunted Roads. Well, sorry, A Haunted Road. Oh, okay. A

6
00:00:29.960 --> 00:00:33.090
Haunted Road. Not plural. One Haunted Road. It's been a while, though.

7
00:00:33.560 --> 00:00:38.409
I love a Haunted Road story. Same. Same. It's been

8
00:00:38.429 --> 00:00:42.890
too long, really. It has. Yeah. Before that, we usually

9
00:00:42.909 --> 00:00:45.710
have a listener story. This is not a good time

10
00:00:45.750 --> 00:00:47.710
in my life right now, so I was, like, too

11
00:00:47.729 --> 00:00:51.509
busy to find one, you know? Okay, but besides that,

12
00:00:51.570 --> 00:00:55.689
we're running low, so please send us your stories. Yes,

13
00:00:55.909 --> 00:00:59.000
that too. Um, you can email them to a spooky

14
00:00:59.039 --> 00:01:01.640
toes at gmail.com. You can leave it in the comment

15
00:01:01.700 --> 00:01:05.019
of any video. You can call the spooky hotline. Uh,

16
00:01:05.920 --> 00:01:11.000
you can, did I say DM it already? I don't remember. Well,

17
00:01:11.060 --> 00:01:13.060
you can DM it. If I didn't say that already,

18
00:01:13.120 --> 00:01:15.980
you can DM it on any of our socials. Um,

19
00:01:16.079 --> 00:01:19.450
we love receiving them. We missed receiving them. Please send them.

20
00:01:21.870 --> 00:01:24.209
And so, yeah, like I said, we have a haunted

21
00:01:24.290 --> 00:01:29.109
road today. We are talking about La Cuesta de las

22
00:01:29.209 --> 00:01:36.109
Cañas in Guatemala. Guate. Yes. You know, our friend is

23
00:01:36.250 --> 00:01:38.439
in Guatemala right now. I'm going to force her to

24
00:01:38.459 --> 00:01:40.439
listen to this episode. She doesn't listen to us, first

25
00:01:40.500 --> 00:01:43.420
of all. You know what? I'm not surprised. It's a

26
00:01:43.540 --> 00:01:46.260
hit or miss with friends. She doesn't listen to podcasts.

27
00:01:46.280 --> 00:01:49.319
She only watches them. No. Okay. You know what? I

28
00:01:49.760 --> 00:01:51.760
need to get back on YouTube. I know. I've seen

29
00:01:51.780 --> 00:01:56.819
people commenting that. Yes. Yeah. It's so hard. Anyway. Moving

30
00:01:56.859 --> 00:01:59.640
on from that. She's in Guatemala. And I was like,

31
00:01:59.719 --> 00:02:02.980
let me find a Guatemala story because it's been Guatemala

32
00:02:03.000 --> 00:02:05.969
has been neglected for a while. We've been very Mexico centric.

33
00:02:06.329 --> 00:02:10.370
We have been, especially since we're doing the states. The states. Yeah.

34
00:02:11.189 --> 00:02:14.370
So Cuesta de las Cañas is a road that leads

35
00:02:14.409 --> 00:02:19.120
from the municipalities of San Lucas and Santa Lucia, Milpas Altas.

36
00:02:19.969 --> 00:02:24.930
Towards Antigua, Guatemala. Okay. And this road is known for

37
00:02:24.990 --> 00:02:28.650
its steep descent, which starts at about kilometer 32 of

38
00:02:28.669 --> 00:02:35.830
Route 10 and ends around where Antigua starts. The curves

39
00:02:35.889 --> 00:02:38.009
of this road make it one of the most dangerous

40
00:02:38.110 --> 00:02:41.509
in Guatemala. Dude, I've seen the roads. There's this one

41
00:02:41.770 --> 00:02:46.639
video I saw of a bus going through some curvy road.

42
00:02:47.000 --> 00:02:50.189
It was probably this road. Could have been, but it

43
00:02:50.210 --> 00:02:52.050
was like a mountain, like on a cliff. Anyway, it

44
00:02:52.069 --> 00:02:54.030
was so scary. I don't know if it turned over.

45
00:02:54.050 --> 00:02:57.550
I don't remember, but it was super scary. Yeah, because

46
00:02:57.610 --> 00:03:04.580
speaking of, crashes, overturned buses, skidding, and other accidents happen

47
00:03:04.819 --> 00:03:09.340
almost daily, but for sure like every couple days on

48
00:03:09.360 --> 00:03:14.020
this road. According to the General Directorate of Road Protection

49
00:03:14.259 --> 00:03:20.129
and Safety, PROVIAL in Spanish, The causes of accidents are speeding,

50
00:03:20.370 --> 00:03:25.370
mechanical failures of said vehicles, trucks, buses, and when it's raining,

51
00:03:25.530 --> 00:03:30.370
wet asphalt makes it super dangerous. But according to the people,

52
00:03:31.110 --> 00:03:34.870
the causes are not those. They are supernatural. Okay, I

53
00:03:34.909 --> 00:03:41.669
believe it. Me too. 100%. And this supernatural cause of accidents,

54
00:03:42.469 --> 00:03:44.750
it could date back to the beginning of Antigua as

55
00:03:44.810 --> 00:03:49.840
a city. For starters, the most obvious horror... Sorry, before

56
00:03:49.879 --> 00:03:53.159
I get into that. Because, like, whenever bad things happen

57
00:03:53.199 --> 00:03:57.210
in a place, like, I don't know, people who are

58
00:03:57.250 --> 00:04:03.030
into haunted places, the supernatural, like, those places then attract more, like,

59
00:04:03.050 --> 00:04:05.770
supernatural things, right? Like, bad things happened here and now

60
00:04:05.930 --> 00:04:09.729
haunted things happen here. You know what I mean? So,

61
00:04:09.889 --> 00:04:15.569
the most obvious horror causing these supernatural activities, colonization. Okay.

62
00:04:17.079 --> 00:04:21.420
This road that we're talking about leads to Antigua, Guatemala,

63
00:04:21.459 --> 00:04:25.399
like we said. This is the third capital of Guatemala

64
00:04:26.360 --> 00:04:28.860
because they had moved it two times already before it

65
00:04:29.060 --> 00:04:37.529
became Antigua. Once because of several Cachiquel uprisings. And then again,

66
00:04:37.970 --> 00:04:41.329
because of a devastating, I don't know how to pronounce this.

67
00:04:41.389 --> 00:04:45.750
I'm sorry. Lahar? Lahar? It's a mudflow, mudflow from a volcano.

68
00:04:45.990 --> 00:04:51.810
In this case, el Volcán de Agua. That mudflow devastated

69
00:04:51.889 --> 00:04:54.129
the area. And so they had to move the capital again.

70
00:04:54.449 --> 00:04:57.709
So a lot of deaths already in those uprisings. And

71
00:04:57.750 --> 00:05:04.850
then this volcano flood. I don't know. Lahar. So it

72
00:05:04.889 --> 00:05:08.980
was moved two times. Part of those old capitals are

73
00:05:09.129 --> 00:05:13.610
where the road, Cuesta de las Cañas, is today. But

74
00:05:13.649 --> 00:05:17.170
on top of that, there was at least six devastating

75
00:05:17.290 --> 00:05:20.600
earthquakes in the region, like all in the same like

76
00:05:20.879 --> 00:05:24.339
time span. Damn. So that region has really been through

77
00:05:24.360 --> 00:05:28.620
a lot. It's been through it. Yeah. And all adding

78
00:05:29.259 --> 00:05:31.500
all of the stuff, adding to the number of deaths

79
00:05:31.649 --> 00:05:36.009
and the violence taking place on that road. And like

80
00:05:36.149 --> 00:05:40.199
I said, accidents still occur almost daily. But one of

81
00:05:40.240 --> 00:05:42.920
the most tragic accidents on that road, at least in

82
00:05:42.959 --> 00:05:47.569
like recent memory, took place on the 19th of July, 1982.

83
00:05:47.550 --> 00:05:55.860
A group of Mexican folklorico, ballet folklorico dancers were traveling

84
00:05:55.879 --> 00:06:00.420
for one of their first international performances. They left Mexico

85
00:06:00.540 --> 00:06:03.810
on the 14th. on a bus with two drivers. They're like,

86
00:06:03.829 --> 00:06:06.449
we're going to be extra safe and have like drivers

87
00:06:06.490 --> 00:06:10.069
that switch off instead of just the one, right? Their bus,

88
00:06:10.300 --> 00:06:12.540
it was, you can find pictures of this bus. The

89
00:06:12.560 --> 00:06:15.920
bus is blue. It had the word Lobo on the side.

90
00:06:16.500 --> 00:06:19.060
There's a picture of like the dancers all standing in

91
00:06:19.120 --> 00:06:23.040
front of the bus, like so happy and cheerful. They

92
00:06:23.160 --> 00:06:26.810
apparently cleaned the bus themselves. They were so excited for

93
00:06:26.850 --> 00:06:30.759
their first out of country performance. On the 19th, They

94
00:06:30.779 --> 00:06:35.560
were reaching Antigua on that road when somehow the bus overturned,

95
00:06:36.100 --> 00:06:39.829
falling into the ravine. Oh, wow. Because the road is

96
00:06:39.850 --> 00:06:44.389
like on a giant cliff, basically. 25 dancers died and

97
00:06:44.389 --> 00:06:48.449
16 were injured but alive. Wow. Like Mexico had to

98
00:06:48.490 --> 00:06:54.339
send military helicopters and rescuers to pick up those who

99
00:06:54.379 --> 00:06:58.439
had passed away and the injured who were still alive.

100
00:06:59.389 --> 00:07:03.250
And the country mourned their deaths. It was a huge accident.

101
00:07:03.310 --> 00:07:06.389
It got so much publicity. It was on the news

102
00:07:07.029 --> 00:07:10.089
a lot. Because that's a lot of people. And they

103
00:07:10.110 --> 00:07:14.370
were all young. Yeah. Two years before that, in 1990,

104
00:07:14.350 --> 00:07:17.649
a bus with 35 passengers crashed in the same spot.

105
00:07:18.629 --> 00:07:24.079
Only that time, all of the passengers passed away. In 1993,

106
00:07:24.079 --> 00:07:27.199
a group of musicians also crashed and died in that

107
00:07:27.220 --> 00:07:30.939
same spot. Oh, my God. There has to be another

108
00:07:30.959 --> 00:07:34.980
way to get there. There's not. Sorry. It's the only way.

109
00:07:35.000 --> 00:07:39.089
I can't. I simply would not go there. Like, obviously,

110
00:07:39.110 --> 00:07:41.689
people have to, but I would just, like, I could not.

111
00:07:42.850 --> 00:07:45.449
I get so scared even driving to, like, fucking Yosemite.

112
00:07:46.350 --> 00:07:49.589
You get scared on the Seattle Hills. Actually, that's true.

113
00:07:50.500 --> 00:07:53.959
And that's why I love public transportation. Because I'm not

114
00:07:53.980 --> 00:07:59.939
driving these hills. They scare me. Another bus, this time

115
00:08:00.300 --> 00:08:03.860
also in 1993, another bus, this time with Salvadoran passengers

116
00:08:04.160 --> 00:08:07.959
also crashed and they all died. This is all the

117
00:08:08.000 --> 00:08:13.139
early 1990s. And so they added some, I shouldn't say maps.

118
00:08:13.220 --> 00:08:17.439
What the fuck was I supposed to say? I don't know. Anyway. Anyway.

119
00:08:18.149 --> 00:08:21.379
They added like, you know, like, like, yeah. Like, what

120
00:08:21.389 --> 00:08:23.879
are they? I don't know what they're called, but like,

121
00:08:23.899 --> 00:08:26.379
there's like on the side of the road. Yeah. You

122
00:08:26.399 --> 00:08:28.439
see it when you're on the freeway. Almost like a bumper. Yeah.

123
00:08:29.620 --> 00:08:32.299
Like a, like a safety feature, like on the bed. Yes.

124
00:08:32.840 --> 00:08:36.889
Or like on for bowling. Yeah. Yeah. Like those things

125
00:08:36.929 --> 00:08:41.669
that come up. I just can't think of the actual name. Like, yes. Yeah.

126
00:08:42.730 --> 00:08:43.950
I can't think of the name, but they added some

127
00:08:43.990 --> 00:08:46.450
of those on the side. They made a lot of

128
00:08:46.470 --> 00:08:50.490
changes to make the road safer, especially that spot. But

129
00:08:50.529 --> 00:08:54.570
the accidents continued. Oh, no. And we would be here

130
00:08:54.610 --> 00:08:57.509
forever if we shared every single horrible and tragic accident

131
00:08:57.529 --> 00:09:01.129
because there's just that many. Literally, I was like adding these.

132
00:09:01.210 --> 00:09:05.379
And then I came across another like 2012 student bus crash.

133
00:09:05.820 --> 00:09:09.659
But that time only the teacher passed away. But the

134
00:09:09.679 --> 00:09:14.690
students all survived, which so sad. Oh, yeah. Like, again,

135
00:09:14.730 --> 00:09:17.059
another more recent one. And then, like, there was just

136
00:09:17.080 --> 00:09:21.519
so many articles. Like, firefighters called to Cuesta de las Cañas.

137
00:09:22.320 --> 00:09:27.659
Another crash. Just endless. But let's talk about some of

138
00:09:27.679 --> 00:09:31.529
the legends on this road. Because something is appearing and

139
00:09:31.590 --> 00:09:42.370
causing them to drive off the road. Yeah. According to legend,

140
00:09:42.470 --> 00:09:44.889
in the late hours of the night, Also, sometimes in

141
00:09:44.929 --> 00:09:48.200
the very early hours of the morning, drivers run into

142
00:09:48.240 --> 00:09:51.120
a woman in a white dress. Always a white dress.

143
00:09:51.620 --> 00:09:53.820
Always a woman in a white dress. If it's not white,

144
00:09:53.860 --> 00:09:58.529
it's red, though. True. Sometimes black. Yeah, but it's just

145
00:09:58.549 --> 00:10:02.620
those three colors. Nothing else. No. No, nothing else. So

146
00:10:02.899 --> 00:10:05.350
they'll be driving and suddenly in the middle of the road,

147
00:10:05.509 --> 00:10:11.970
there she is, just standing. All medicinally. Naturally, drivers hit

148
00:10:11.990 --> 00:10:15.230
their brakes, causing them to overturn. Those who survived the

149
00:10:15.250 --> 00:10:19.039
crash look around, looking for the woman who frightened them.

150
00:10:19.860 --> 00:10:23.799
But by then, she has vanished. They say that if

151
00:10:23.840 --> 00:10:26.779
the car's motor is shut off, she will appear inside

152
00:10:26.799 --> 00:10:29.399
of the car, either in the passenger seat or in

153
00:10:29.419 --> 00:10:33.480
the backseat. Some report seeing a man instead of a woman.

154
00:10:34.980 --> 00:10:39.879
I wonder if he's also wearing white. Yeah, they don't say, huh?

155
00:10:39.940 --> 00:10:45.429
I wonder. Hmm. Hmm. Questions. But the results are the same. Okay.

156
00:10:45.809 --> 00:10:50.059
Crash and die or crash and survive? Yeah. Mm-hmm. Others

157
00:10:50.120 --> 00:10:53.970
have reported seeing an angelic figure described only as luminous,

158
00:10:54.279 --> 00:10:57.690
always at the exact same time, 4.30 in the morning.

159
00:10:59.070 --> 00:11:00.830
You know what? Out of all of those, that kind

160
00:11:00.850 --> 00:11:03.629
of seems like the best option. But is there a

161
00:11:03.649 --> 00:11:07.309
best option if they're all causing you to crash? The angel,

162
00:11:07.529 --> 00:11:13.889
to me. I'd rather not see anything. True, true. The

163
00:11:13.970 --> 00:11:18.629
other legend is La Pareja Fantasma. A couple this time, okay.

164
00:11:19.519 --> 00:11:24.990
The ghost couple. According to legend, at kilometer 42 of

165
00:11:25.070 --> 00:11:27.669
Cuesta de las Cañas, a couple can be found asking

166
00:11:27.730 --> 00:11:30.450
for a ride. The man is always wearing a blue

167
00:11:30.509 --> 00:11:33.490
suit and a black hat. The woman wears a black

168
00:11:33.529 --> 00:11:35.549
dress and for some reason no one can ever see

169
00:11:35.600 --> 00:11:39.509
her feet. ominous that's already like nope actually seen a

170
00:11:40.009 --> 00:11:42.529
couple i mean yeah the the dress is always like

171
00:11:42.629 --> 00:11:45.639
floating you know like yeah it's never like flowy yeah

172
00:11:45.659 --> 00:11:49.419
it's long long and flowy and covering yes the feet

173
00:11:49.460 --> 00:11:54.899
but she's probably floating and not standing probably yeah they

174
00:11:54.919 --> 00:11:56.490
stand on the side of the road with their thumbs

175
00:11:56.730 --> 00:11:58.669
out waiting for a kind person to give them a

176
00:11:58.669 --> 00:12:01.289
ride but at some point once the curve is over

177
00:12:01.590 --> 00:12:05.029
the couple is gone Actually, I'd rather see them because

178
00:12:05.070 --> 00:12:08.559
it seems like they don't cause car accidents. I think, though,

179
00:12:08.700 --> 00:12:11.960
if you're like driving and they suddenly disappear, one could

180
00:12:11.980 --> 00:12:14.320
be like, oh, my God, and then crash. But it

181
00:12:14.360 --> 00:12:16.700
does seem safer. But it's after the curve. So it's

182
00:12:16.720 --> 00:12:19.679
like a little safer. That's true. If you're going to

183
00:12:19.720 --> 00:12:23.480
crash somewhere after the curve is better. Yeah. Yeah. And

184
00:12:23.500 --> 00:12:28.279
then we also found some stories on the road. So

185
00:12:28.360 --> 00:12:31.929
the swallowing one is from someone who we will call Andy.

186
00:12:32.710 --> 00:12:37.460
which I found on Facebook. Facebook? Yeah, yeah. I was

187
00:12:38.080 --> 00:12:44.039
researching in random places today. So Andy, a 20-year-old student,

188
00:12:44.100 --> 00:12:49.720
wanted to go see the festivities during Semana Santa in Antigua.

189
00:12:50.490 --> 00:12:53.789
And it was beautiful. There was like a whole procession,

190
00:12:54.450 --> 00:12:59.429
candles everywhere, you know, nice statues, church things, you know,

191
00:12:59.570 --> 00:13:03.899
Catholic things. It was truly beautiful. And then he decided

192
00:13:03.980 --> 00:13:06.240
that he was going to travel super early in the

193
00:13:06.259 --> 00:13:12.190
morning to avoid traffic leaving Antigua. So he's driving when

194
00:13:12.230 --> 00:13:16.149
he found himself at kilometer 34 of Cuestas de las

195
00:13:16.190 --> 00:13:21.700
Cañas at exactly 4.30 in the morning. As he drove,

196
00:13:22.259 --> 00:13:25.720
he saw a woman suddenly appear in his rearview mirror.

197
00:13:26.940 --> 00:13:29.529
He tried to scream, but he couldn't. Then he tried

198
00:13:29.549 --> 00:13:33.309
to accelerate, but he also couldn't. Oh, no. But he

199
00:13:33.350 --> 00:13:37.029
didn't lose control. He kept driving super slow. And as

200
00:13:37.070 --> 00:13:41.350
he got past the curve, the woman vanished before his eyes. Okay,

201
00:13:41.429 --> 00:13:48.220
that's good that he survived. Yeah, yeah. Because that could have,

202
00:13:49.039 --> 00:13:51.200
he could have not survived and not tell the story,

203
00:13:51.220 --> 00:13:55.679
you know? Right. Okay, and the next story is a

204
00:13:55.700 --> 00:14:00.820
little longer, and I would say creepier. Ooh. I don't

205
00:14:00.840 --> 00:14:05.120
remember the YouTube. I think it's El Lado Oscuro. It's

206
00:14:05.179 --> 00:14:07.840
in the sources. You'll see it. It's a YouTube page.

207
00:14:07.879 --> 00:14:13.330
That's where this story comes from. So, Don E was

208
00:14:13.409 --> 00:14:17.830
a truck driver. He drove through the most treacherous roads,

209
00:14:18.330 --> 00:14:22.919
like El Espinazo del Diablo, La Rumorosa. Ooh. Some of

210
00:14:23.279 --> 00:14:29.960
which we've already talked about in different episodes. In 1992,

211
00:14:29.960 --> 00:14:34.059
his truck was newer and he was a well-esteemed employee

212
00:14:34.259 --> 00:14:38.120
in his company. He was a serious man and sometimes

213
00:14:38.159 --> 00:14:41.830
he brought his family along on truck driving jobs, especially

214
00:14:41.970 --> 00:14:45.009
if he was going near the beach. That makes sense. Yeah.

215
00:14:46.250 --> 00:14:48.009
And so, yeah, when he was done unloading, they could

216
00:14:48.070 --> 00:14:51.620
vacation together. And because he was such a good employee,

217
00:14:52.120 --> 00:14:54.000
his boss was like, yeah, take an extra day at

218
00:14:54.019 --> 00:14:58.340
the beach. Have fun with the fam. Nice. Right. And

219
00:14:58.399 --> 00:15:03.929
so in 1992, for some reason, Don E was the

220
00:15:04.009 --> 00:15:07.149
one sent to Central America all the way to Guatemala

221
00:15:07.230 --> 00:15:09.809
for this delivery. I think because he was so trusted

222
00:15:09.830 --> 00:15:12.789
because he was so, you know, such a hard worker.

223
00:15:13.960 --> 00:15:17.769
So he went and At one of the truck stops

224
00:15:17.929 --> 00:15:21.769
after Chiapas, heading into Guatemala, he ran into another Mexican

225
00:15:21.789 --> 00:15:25.090
truck driver. And they got to chatting, as we do.

226
00:15:26.029 --> 00:15:30.679
Don E. told the other Mexican truck driver that his

227
00:15:30.740 --> 00:15:33.879
specific route... I think people use both. Okay, that his

228
00:15:33.899 --> 00:15:37.460
specific route to the quiet mountain town of Santa Lucia,

229
00:15:37.639 --> 00:15:43.350
Milpas Altas, in the department of Zacatepeque was long. and

230
00:15:43.389 --> 00:15:45.269
that he was supposed to go there, and then he

231
00:15:45.309 --> 00:15:50.629
had another delivery in Antigua, Guatemala. That's when the other

232
00:15:50.649 --> 00:15:54.960
truck driver told Don E, hey, be very careful leaving

233
00:15:55.019 --> 00:15:59.960
Santa Lucia and heading to Antigua. Go very slowly. You

234
00:15:59.980 --> 00:16:03.450
don't want to lose control. Be very careful. He then

235
00:16:03.610 --> 00:16:06.450
asked Don E what he was carrying, and Don E

236
00:16:06.669 --> 00:16:09.950
told him 16 tons, and the man was like, no mames.

237
00:16:11.210 --> 00:16:15.200
Be very careful. Because that's a lot. Dang. For these hills.

238
00:16:15.419 --> 00:16:17.720
Or not hills. These are like more than hills. These

239
00:16:17.799 --> 00:16:21.559
cliff sides. For these mountains. Yeah. These cliff sides. So

240
00:16:21.580 --> 00:16:24.379
he's like, oh, be very careful. And hey, if it

241
00:16:24.450 --> 00:16:27.769
gets dark when you're still in Santa Lucia, stay there.

242
00:16:28.330 --> 00:16:31.870
Do not make that drive at night. And Donel was like,

243
00:16:32.429 --> 00:16:36.230
pues que mal esta? Like, why? Why? How bad is it? Yeah.

244
00:16:36.509 --> 00:16:38.629
How bad is it? And the man was like, bad.

245
00:16:38.870 --> 00:16:43.399
Real bad. Then they parted ways. And Doné arrived in

246
00:16:43.620 --> 00:16:47.460
Santa Lucia. But by the time he was done unloading, stocking,

247
00:16:47.500 --> 00:16:51.279
whatever they do, it was 7 p.m. There was a

248
00:16:51.340 --> 00:16:54.590
heavy fog rolling in and people were all going inside

249
00:16:54.610 --> 00:16:59.549
their houses, shutting the doors, shutting the blinds. It was ominous.

250
00:17:00.929 --> 00:17:04.049
It was sus. And so then he thought about what

251
00:17:04.089 --> 00:17:08.670
that other man told him at the rest stop. He

252
00:17:08.690 --> 00:17:11.519
was like, don't make that drive at night. Right. But

253
00:17:11.559 --> 00:17:13.559
he needed to make it to Antigua so he could

254
00:17:13.599 --> 00:17:18.569
have home. So he started to drive. Oh, no. And

255
00:17:18.630 --> 00:17:20.970
as he drove, he was like, hmm, the road doesn't

256
00:17:21.009 --> 00:17:23.990
seem too bad. This is not that bad. La Rumorosa?

257
00:17:24.190 --> 00:17:28.509
Way worse. Come on. He kept on driving, slow but going.

258
00:17:29.450 --> 00:17:32.930
The fog was getting heavier and maybe another driver would

259
00:17:32.950 --> 00:17:36.589
have been scared. But he was a pro. Yeah, he

260
00:17:36.630 --> 00:17:40.309
was experienced. He, again, he had been through La Rumorosa,

261
00:17:40.650 --> 00:17:44.859
El Espinazo del Diablo. So he approached this big, big curve.

262
00:17:45.539 --> 00:17:47.900
And as he, I don't know, whatever truck drivers do,

263
00:17:47.960 --> 00:17:49.579
apply the brakes and slow down. Like, I don't know,

264
00:17:49.599 --> 00:17:54.759
I'm not a truck driver. Shifted the gear, maybe. Yeah,

265
00:17:55.160 --> 00:17:59.910
quite possibly. Yeah, I think so. As he did that,

266
00:18:00.609 --> 00:18:04.109
he thought he heard a whisper on the radio. And

267
00:18:04.130 --> 00:18:05.849
so he reached for the radio, like, you know, the

268
00:18:05.890 --> 00:18:09.119
handheld radio, to see if someone was trying to get

269
00:18:09.140 --> 00:18:13.000
through to him. But the only sound after that was

270
00:18:13.119 --> 00:18:22.160
the truck. Then he heard it again. Voices on the radio.

271
00:18:23.099 --> 00:18:25.680
The voices sounded like they were talking to each other,

272
00:18:25.700 --> 00:18:28.829
but he could have sworn that he heard his own name.

273
00:18:29.529 --> 00:18:32.970
Oh no. They also sounded like they were speaking another language.

274
00:18:34.089 --> 00:18:37.069
And then they would occasionally, the voices would occasionally switch

275
00:18:37.130 --> 00:18:40.529
to Spanish. And he's like, that I can understand. And

276
00:18:40.549 --> 00:18:42.119
then that's when he would hear his name. He's like,

277
00:18:42.130 --> 00:18:45.839
what the fuck? What's happening? So he's like, no, no.

278
00:18:46.240 --> 00:18:49.380
And he tried to turn the radio off. But it

279
00:18:49.400 --> 00:18:51.740
was hard to do that at the same time and

280
00:18:51.779 --> 00:18:54.960
focus on the intense driving that he had to do. Yeah.

281
00:18:55.019 --> 00:18:56.410
I mean, this is not a road you want to

282
00:18:56.420 --> 00:18:59.150
be distracted for. Definitely no texting and driving on this road.

283
00:19:00.009 --> 00:19:04.160
Or any road. But yeah. exactly but especially this road

284
00:19:06.359 --> 00:19:07.960
and so he but he was like i don't i'm

285
00:19:07.980 --> 00:19:09.400
tired of these voices like i don't want to hear

286
00:19:09.440 --> 00:19:11.509
this so he did it he did it and then

287
00:19:11.549 --> 00:19:14.029
like the truck like curved a little but he he

288
00:19:14.049 --> 00:19:17.630
got back uh on track and he drove a little

289
00:19:17.670 --> 00:19:20.910
bit longer but not even like a minute passed and

290
00:19:20.990 --> 00:19:25.170
he started to hear the voices again after he turned

291
00:19:25.190 --> 00:19:30.349
the radio off yes yes yes god oh So this

292
00:19:30.390 --> 00:19:31.930
time he was like, oh my God, what the fuck?

293
00:19:32.269 --> 00:19:35.769
And then so he tried to press a button or

294
00:19:35.869 --> 00:19:37.890
he was like trying to reach the radio again and

295
00:19:37.950 --> 00:19:39.519
he was supposed to press some button. I don't know.

296
00:19:39.680 --> 00:19:43.539
Whatever truck drivers do, shift gears. I don't know. And

297
00:19:43.559 --> 00:19:46.039
he was like going on this curve that was descending

298
00:19:46.339 --> 00:19:49.680
at the same time. That curve that everyone's overturning on.

299
00:19:50.650 --> 00:19:54.680
that exact curve and so the voices are going he's

300
00:19:54.720 --> 00:19:57.940
like trying to like reach the radio again he's distracted

301
00:19:57.960 --> 00:20:03.319
then suddenly there was a scream a piercing scream that

302
00:20:03.339 --> 00:20:05.819
seemed to be coming from everywhere not just from the

303
00:20:05.859 --> 00:20:10.700
radio but like The speakers, but also like if it

304
00:20:10.740 --> 00:20:14.059
was someone next to him inside the truck. There's just screaming.

305
00:20:15.039 --> 00:20:18.240
So he let go of the steering wheel because he

306
00:20:18.299 --> 00:20:23.480
was shocked, startled. Of course. Yeah. And so, again, this

307
00:20:23.519 --> 00:20:25.579
is a curve. He should be, you know, hands on

308
00:20:25.599 --> 00:20:29.700
the steering wheel turning. And he was heading straight for...

309
00:20:30.950 --> 00:20:34.289
the side of the cliff, the ravine, whatever, he was

310
00:20:34.329 --> 00:20:37.309
heading straight for it. But last minute, he was able

311
00:20:37.349 --> 00:20:41.819
to hit the brakes. Oh, wow. And he, the truck stopped.

312
00:20:42.099 --> 00:20:45.460
He didn't fall off like the bus, all those buses

313
00:20:45.700 --> 00:20:51.509
before him. He got out, looked around. It was pitch dark, foggy,

314
00:20:51.890 --> 00:20:54.990
no other car in sight. But he couldn't keep the

315
00:20:55.009 --> 00:20:57.619
truck where it was because, again, it's a curve. If

316
00:20:57.660 --> 00:21:00.140
someone's coming from the other side, they wouldn't see him.

317
00:21:00.160 --> 00:21:03.240
You just got to keep going, right? Yeah. Yeah. It

318
00:21:03.279 --> 00:21:05.099
was too dangerous to stay there. But he was he

319
00:21:05.119 --> 00:21:09.329
was scared. He had never felt this scared. He could have.

320
00:21:09.369 --> 00:21:13.329
He almost died. But he got back into the truck.

321
00:21:14.029 --> 00:21:18.289
And luckily, after that, he reached Antigua pretty quickly. But

322
00:21:18.670 --> 00:21:21.980
normally in other places, if wherever he was going was

323
00:21:22.019 --> 00:21:24.700
already closed, he would just stay in the truck and sleep.

324
00:21:25.200 --> 00:21:27.000
And he's like, no, I'm not doing that. He's like,

325
00:21:27.039 --> 00:21:31.220
there's no goddamn way. No way. He found a hotel, though,

326
00:21:31.329 --> 00:21:34.769
because this is a tourist destination, Antigua. And so there's

327
00:21:34.789 --> 00:21:36.349
like a lot of places to stay. And he's like,

328
00:21:36.450 --> 00:21:38.170
I'm going to stay at a hotel, which he never

329
00:21:38.190 --> 00:21:42.799
did unless his fam was with him. Then morning comes.

330
00:21:43.980 --> 00:21:47.329
He was tired, not hungry, still scared. But he found

331
00:21:47.349 --> 00:21:50.369
some food, went to the store. He was making his

332
00:21:50.450 --> 00:21:54.910
drop off. I don't know, inventory, stocking, whatever. By the

333
00:21:54.930 --> 00:21:56.990
time all that was done, please don't tell me it

334
00:21:57.029 --> 00:22:00.130
was dark. It was 6 p.m. There's no fucking way

335
00:22:00.150 --> 00:22:03.150
that took all fucking day. What the fuck? Somehow it did.

336
00:22:03.170 --> 00:22:08.000
Somehow it did. And he was dreading getting back on

337
00:22:08.019 --> 00:22:12.480
the road. He thought maybe he could make it to

338
00:22:12.519 --> 00:22:16.819
Santa Lucia quickly. Oh my God. Why? And he's like,

339
00:22:16.960 --> 00:22:18.900
you know what? I'm just going to do it. I

340
00:22:18.920 --> 00:22:20.210
want to go home. I'm just going to do it.

341
00:22:20.900 --> 00:22:23.440
But then one of the store owners that he was

342
00:22:23.519 --> 00:22:26.079
making his drop off, that took all fucking day apparently,

343
00:22:27.140 --> 00:22:29.559
they ran to stop him before he got on the truck.

344
00:22:29.579 --> 00:22:32.140
They like booked it. And she was like, the road

345
00:22:32.200 --> 00:22:35.079
is closed. You can't go down there. There's been a

346
00:22:35.140 --> 00:22:38.369
terrible accident. And he's like, we're on the road. And

347
00:22:38.390 --> 00:22:41.009
then when she told them, it was... He knew where.

348
00:22:41.549 --> 00:22:44.269
He knew exactly where because it was where he almost died.

349
00:22:44.289 --> 00:22:48.410
Oh my God. The exact spot. A bus had crashed

350
00:22:48.890 --> 00:22:51.730
and unlike him was not able to stop and fell

351
00:22:51.789 --> 00:22:55.670
into the ravine. Oh my God. 20 were dead and

352
00:22:55.670 --> 00:22:58.829
22 were injured. Then she told them bad things always

353
00:22:58.869 --> 00:23:01.690
happen on that road. And he was like, why? And

354
00:23:01.730 --> 00:23:05.470
she was like, shrug, it's Cuesta de las Cañas. That's why. No,

355
00:23:06.970 --> 00:23:11.200
but yeah, it was damn. It's cursed. cursed, damned, um, haunted,

356
00:23:11.220 --> 00:23:18.400
especially kilometer 34, that specific turn curve. Don A was scared,

357
00:23:19.180 --> 00:23:22.200
but thought that he had driven on worse roads. He

358
00:23:22.240 --> 00:23:24.299
thought he had seen the worst yet, but little did

359
00:23:24.339 --> 00:23:27.599
he know he had not. No, he's like something else

360
00:23:27.660 --> 00:23:29.700
is going on on this road. Like something else is

361
00:23:29.759 --> 00:23:33.119
making this more dangerous than it needs to be. He

362
00:23:33.140 --> 00:23:34.680
waited that night and then he went back home the

363
00:23:34.720 --> 00:23:37.279
next day. Good. And now he had nothing to keep

364
00:23:37.299 --> 00:23:39.900
him all day there. He left as soon as the

365
00:23:39.940 --> 00:23:44.339
sun rose. Yeah. And never set foot in Central America again.

366
00:23:46.799 --> 00:23:49.839
And it's funny because in the story, he's like, he

367
00:23:49.880 --> 00:23:51.900
was so excited to go see Antigua because he heard

368
00:23:51.920 --> 00:23:54.539
it was beautiful. And he's like, no, I'm not going

369
00:23:54.579 --> 00:24:00.240
over there ever again. But he survived. So that's what matters. Yeah. Yeah.

370
00:24:00.670 --> 00:24:02.690
But yeah, he was right. There is something else going

371
00:24:02.750 --> 00:24:06.269
on on that road. It's super haunted. Yeah. You have

372
00:24:06.309 --> 00:24:12.490
the La Dama de En Blanco, the couple, the man

373
00:24:12.559 --> 00:24:16.460
and the little angel thing. So, yeah. Yeah. But yeah,

374
00:24:16.559 --> 00:24:30.299
that was La Cuesta de las Cañas. All right. Before

375
00:24:30.339 --> 00:24:36.470
we go, do you have any spooky recommendations? I probably do.

376
00:24:36.490 --> 00:24:42.609
Let's see. Yes, I have a recommendation. I recently listened

377
00:24:42.789 --> 00:24:46.319
to The Dangers of Smoking. I feel like I said

378
00:24:46.359 --> 00:24:49.900
smoking weird. The Dangers of Smoking in Bed by Mariana

379
00:24:50.019 --> 00:24:55.450
Enriquez and translated by Megan McDowell. Yeah, and it's a

380
00:24:55.470 --> 00:24:58.150
collection of short stories. And I don't usually like listening

381
00:24:58.170 --> 00:25:01.549
to short stories. I prefer to read them. Yeah, exactly.

382
00:25:01.609 --> 00:25:03.170
And most of the time, I actually don't like reading

383
00:25:03.190 --> 00:25:06.339
short stories. Just because they're too short. And I feel

384
00:25:06.359 --> 00:25:08.480
like I want to sit down and read a book

385
00:25:08.519 --> 00:25:11.680
for an amount of time. And I feel like it's

386
00:25:11.720 --> 00:25:16.029
hard to switch from one unconnected story to another unconnected story.

387
00:25:16.109 --> 00:25:17.849
But that doesn't mean the stories are bad. It's just

388
00:25:17.869 --> 00:25:20.440
a thing that... Like for me. It's you. Yeah. And

389
00:25:20.619 --> 00:25:24.019
I feel the same way. So it's an us problem. Right, right, right, right.

390
00:25:24.079 --> 00:25:26.680
But obviously there are amazing short stories. It's just like,

391
00:25:26.700 --> 00:25:31.160
I don't tend to gravitate towards them. But yeah, there is,

392
00:25:31.380 --> 00:25:33.170
most of these stories are like horror. Some of them

393
00:25:33.230 --> 00:25:36.450
are just like weird, but they were really good. And

394
00:25:36.490 --> 00:25:37.990
there was one story in particular, I would say I

395
00:25:37.990 --> 00:25:40.089
don't remember the names of the stories anymore, but there

396
00:25:40.109 --> 00:25:41.710
was one story that was super creepy. It was like

397
00:25:41.730 --> 00:25:44.410
this little like weird, like kids. There was like a

398
00:25:44.410 --> 00:25:47.970
lot of disappearances in like, I think it's a, Is

399
00:25:48.019 --> 00:25:52.079
it in Chile? I don't remember. Argentina. Argentina. She's from Argentina.

400
00:25:53.079 --> 00:25:55.480
And so there's like a lot of, I can't remember

401
00:25:55.500 --> 00:25:58.640
where they're in Argentina, but it's like maybe Buenos Aires

402
00:25:58.900 --> 00:26:02.589
or another smaller town. And they talk about leaving that town. Anyway,

403
00:26:03.069 --> 00:26:06.730
point being, there's a lot of kids disappearing and stuff.

404
00:26:06.750 --> 00:26:08.210
And then all of a sudden they start coming back,

405
00:26:08.250 --> 00:26:10.289
but they're not the same. They're like weird. And the

406
00:26:10.329 --> 00:26:12.859
parents don't want them. And then, yeah, it's like kind

407
00:26:12.900 --> 00:26:15.539
of about that. And that one was super creepy, like eerie.

408
00:26:16.819 --> 00:26:20.660
And then there was another short story about the main

409
00:26:20.700 --> 00:26:24.980
character of the story visits her friends in Spain. And

410
00:26:25.000 --> 00:26:27.829
basically no one can leave. I think it's Madrid. I

411
00:26:27.829 --> 00:26:30.849
don't remember the city anymore in Spain. But they can't leave.

412
00:26:30.869 --> 00:26:34.150
Like Hotel California. Kind of. But yeah, Spain. And they're like,

413
00:26:34.730 --> 00:26:36.170
you haven't been here that long enough. You'll be able

414
00:26:36.190 --> 00:26:37.809
to leave. You need to just go. And that one

415
00:26:37.829 --> 00:26:40.109
was really good. And there's the other weird ass story.

416
00:26:40.130 --> 00:26:45.539
A group of fucking bitch ass friends... Who are freaking bitches.

417
00:26:46.019 --> 00:26:49.640
And then they are jealous of their older friend. And

418
00:26:49.680 --> 00:26:51.900
then there's, like, a guy friend that they all want

419
00:26:51.920 --> 00:26:55.609
to date. And the friend ends up being the one

420
00:26:55.619 --> 00:26:57.910
that gets with him. And then, like, they do something horrible.

421
00:26:58.470 --> 00:27:04.769
Because they're jealous. So I don't spoil it, I won't say. But, yeah,

422
00:27:04.809 --> 00:27:09.809
it was really good. Okay. That sounds cool. I gotta

423
00:27:09.829 --> 00:27:15.829
check it out. Yeah, you'll probably like him. Yeah, yeah. Um, I, again,

424
00:27:15.849 --> 00:27:20.069
I have, I don't know what I've been even watching. Oh,

425
00:27:20.089 --> 00:27:23.029
you don't have any recommendation? You know what? No, I've

426
00:27:23.069 --> 00:27:29.329
just been rewatching Broad City. Oh. But I did finish

427
00:27:29.390 --> 00:27:33.180
listening to, before I got sick, I was walking almost

428
00:27:33.220 --> 00:27:34.720
every day to the gym. And so that's when I

429
00:27:34.740 --> 00:27:38.180
was listening to my audiobook. I finished listening to The

430
00:27:38.279 --> 00:27:41.730
Nerd Reich. oh let me need to listen to that

431
00:27:41.990 --> 00:27:44.009
pull up the author this isn't like horror this is

432
00:27:44.069 --> 00:27:48.730
real life horror real life horror this is non-fiction yeah

433
00:27:48.859 --> 00:27:53.779
yeah non-fiction horror yes oh by Gil Duran I don't

434
00:27:53.799 --> 00:27:56.440
know if it's Gil or Gil but anyway oh really

435
00:27:57.259 --> 00:28:02.140
yeah Duran I just don't know Gil Duran well there's

436
00:28:02.369 --> 00:28:04.089
that well there's an accent on the A which makes

437
00:28:04.130 --> 00:28:06.349
me think it's Spanish oh like a Spanish last name

438
00:28:06.369 --> 00:28:11.420
maybe Hispanic whatever you know what I mean yeah anyway Yes.

439
00:28:11.880 --> 00:28:20.539
And horrifying. Like, these freaking weirdos. These tech fucking weirdo losers. Psychopaths. Psychopaths.

440
00:28:23.359 --> 00:28:26.079
They're going to destroy the world. They're already destroying the world.

441
00:28:26.180 --> 00:28:30.009
But they're, like, they're fiending for the destruction of the world. Oh,

442
00:28:30.019 --> 00:28:31.180
my God. I don't even know if I want to

443
00:28:31.200 --> 00:28:37.920
listen to it. I will. It was so infuriating. Yeah. Oh,

444
00:28:37.940 --> 00:28:40.349
you know what? Let me... I'm trying to figure out

445
00:28:40.369 --> 00:28:44.940
what should I read here. There's a little snippet. I'll

446
00:28:44.960 --> 00:28:48.799
read this part. This book is a thorough tour of

447
00:28:48.839 --> 00:28:52.519
what Naomi Klein calls the mirror world, the upside down

448
00:28:52.680 --> 00:28:57.039
post-truth moral vacuum of far-right politics. It leads to a

449
00:28:57.099 --> 00:29:01.829
grim place. It leads to a grim place. Hyper-capitalism rules.

450
00:29:02.670 --> 00:29:09.640
Corporations displace nation-states. Displace or corporations displace nation-states. and citizenship

451
00:29:09.700 --> 00:29:14.160
and civil rights are dissolved. Duran explores the weird little

452
00:29:14.279 --> 00:29:18.579
freaks who want to make that horrible apocalyptic future come true.

453
00:29:19.079 --> 00:29:21.839
Have you ever wondered what drives someone like Peter Thiel

454
00:29:22.299 --> 00:29:25.960
or Curtis Yarvin? I have, yeah. Yeah, this book is

455
00:29:25.980 --> 00:29:30.180
the closest thing we have to an answer. Oh my god. Yeah,

456
00:29:30.599 --> 00:29:33.200
it was horrifying to listen to, truly. Oh my god,

457
00:29:33.259 --> 00:29:35.940
I'm so scared. I'm gonna listen soon. I haven't been

458
00:29:35.980 --> 00:29:39.509
walking as much, so I haven't been listening to my audiobooks. Yeah.

459
00:29:39.680 --> 00:29:43.440
I started God Forgives, Brothers Don't after that. Oh, that's

460
00:29:43.480 --> 00:29:45.880
another one I need to listen to. The Long March

461
00:29:45.920 --> 00:29:48.890
of Military Education and the Making of an American Manhood

462
00:29:49.029 --> 00:29:52.039
by Jasper Craven. That's my next audiobook. I just love

463
00:29:52.180 --> 00:29:55.779
a depressing nonfiction. I do too. And the last one

464
00:29:55.799 --> 00:29:59.450
I listened to was, which one was it? The one

465
00:29:59.490 --> 00:30:05.490
about the Charlottesville. I was going to say Charlottesville. Oh,

466
00:30:06.130 --> 00:30:08.309
not Men Who Hate Women, right? No, not Men Who

467
00:30:08.349 --> 00:30:10.660
Hate Women. That one's like a little bit more. I

468
00:30:10.720 --> 00:30:13.700
think it's The Black Pill. Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's

469
00:30:13.720 --> 00:30:16.880
The Black Pill. Yeah, Black Pill, How I Witness the

470
00:30:16.920 --> 00:30:21.680
Darkest Corners of the... Internet, Come to Life, Poison Society,

471
00:30:21.720 --> 00:30:25.579
and Capture American Politics by Elle Reeve. I feel like

472
00:30:25.619 --> 00:30:30.500
it's similar to this, only these guys that are explored, examined,

473
00:30:30.519 --> 00:30:33.940
and nerd-rike are in more powerful positions even than the

474
00:30:34.079 --> 00:30:39.359
ones on The Black Pill. Yeah, yeah. So yeah, I

475
00:30:39.400 --> 00:30:44.640
haven't been listening to anything or watching anything, consuming anything spooky, unfortunately.

476
00:30:45.119 --> 00:30:49.240
I have been meaning to start Rooted. Oh, I didn't

477
00:30:49.269 --> 00:30:53.410
recommend that because that was going to be my next one. Okay. Yeah.

478
00:30:53.609 --> 00:30:57.210
I've been in the middle of trying to relearn math

479
00:30:57.289 --> 00:31:00.450
and it's been horrible. Good luck with that. Yeah. It

480
00:31:00.710 --> 00:31:04.490
makes me want to kill myself. Yeah. I understand. When

481
00:31:04.509 --> 00:31:06.609
I told our mom and she was like, oh, you

482
00:31:06.670 --> 00:31:09.630
used to cry. I'm like, I'm still crying. Used to?

483
00:31:10.190 --> 00:31:12.359
She used to cry too doing math homework when she

484
00:31:12.380 --> 00:31:14.579
was getting her GED. And I used to cry doing

485
00:31:14.599 --> 00:31:21.630
math homework. Anyway, so yeah, that's been going on. And

486
00:31:21.670 --> 00:31:23.430
so again, we hope to get back to our regular

487
00:31:23.450 --> 00:31:28.690
schedule for Patreon members. And so yeah, other than that,

488
00:31:29.809 --> 00:31:33.730
anything else you want to say? Other than that, stay spooky.

489
00:31:33.819 --> 00:31:36.980
We'll catch everyone next time. Bye. Oh, wait, sorry. I

490
00:31:36.980 --> 00:31:39.019
was gonna say one more sign of how like this

491
00:31:39.079 --> 00:31:42.759
is just like not our month. We normally have costumes. Oh,

492
00:31:43.039 --> 00:31:46.259
I know. But I'm like, what's the point? We're only

493
00:31:46.279 --> 00:31:49.930
gonna we're not doing video. Yeah. And it would only

494
00:31:49.970 --> 00:31:53.569
be two times a month. Yeah. Yeah. It's just we

495
00:31:53.589 --> 00:31:56.029
had too many plans. You know, maybe next year we'll

496
00:31:56.069 --> 00:31:58.710
be a little more calm. I know we wanted to

497
00:31:58.750 --> 00:32:02.420
do Shrek calm. Yeah, we did. Yeah. Okay. Okay. Now,

498
00:32:02.819 --> 00:32:08.279
stay spooky. Well, stay spooky. Be careful on... La cuesta

499
00:32:08.299 --> 00:32:11.259
de las cañas. Cañas. Yes. De las cañas. I think

500
00:32:11.279 --> 00:32:17.059
I've been saying la, not las. Anyway, cuesta de las cañas. Okay. Bye. Bye.

501
00:32:18.559 --> 00:32:21.369
Spooky Tales is hosted by Christina and Carmen, produced and

502
00:32:21.440 --> 00:32:24.930

503
00:32:24.950 --> 00:32:28.109
help of Dawn. Shout out, Dawn. If you're enjoying the podcast,

504
00:32:28.150 --> 00:32:30.970
consider leaving us a five-star review. We would really appreciate it.

505
00:32:31.049 --> 00:32:32.690
If you don't want to leave a five-star review, just

506
00:32:32.730 --> 00:32:35.230
don't leave a review, but don't leave anything lower than that, please.

507
00:32:35.430 --> 00:32:37.640
I'm just kidding. You can reach out to the podcast

512
00:32:52.599 --> 00:32:54.789
It's super cool. I got new ones and these ones

513
00:32:54.829 --> 00:32:57.569
are huge. And if you want to support, but you

00:33:00.109 --> 00:33:03.450
You can also get some merch. You can find shirts

516
00:33:03.470 --> 00:33:06.630
that say Espuki in old English letters. There's a beanie.

517
00:33:06.769 --> 00:33:10.049
I love the beanie. There's also a hat. There's a

518
00:33:10.430 --> 00:33:14.130
No Mamas shirt, which is a fan favorite. There's a

519
00:33:14.150 --> 00:33:16.990
lot of options, crop tops, sweaters. It's almost sweater weather.

520
00:33:17.150 --> 00:33:20.329
We're nearing a spooky season. So yeah, get your hoodies.

521
00:33:20.349 --> 00:33:21.849
You're going to need them. If you don't want to

522
00:33:21.869 --> 00:33:24.259
do all that, that's fine, too. You can just listen

523
00:33:24.450 --> 00:33:26.599
like you're listening now. And that's the best support that

524
00:33:26.619 --> 00:33:28.559
you can give us, like I always say in our

525
00:33:28.720 --> 00:33:31.079
ad break. And yeah, if you like history, you can

526
00:33:31.299 --> 00:33:36.069
follow Historias Unknown, mine and Carmen's other podcasts. And you

527
00:33:36.089 --> 00:33:38.130
can find a spooky tells on all of our socials

528
00:33:38.369 --> 00:33:41.029
at a spooky tells. All this is in the show

529
00:33:41.069 --> 00:33:45.240
notes and we appreciate every single listen. Thank you so much.

530
00:33:45.500 --> 00:33:46.079
Stay spooky.
